From the beginning Webdesign Holland has been involved in the development of the Muse application of Adobe (Beta release customer, now Creative Cloud member from the first hour).
The Muse application has arisen from the need to create websites without the knowledge of scripting.
In the startup phase of this application, there was still no management module (CMS) to allow Muse websites to be managed by customers. Webdesign Holland used for that reason the CMS of Wordpress. A portal was created in Muse, in which pages of Wordpress were placed.
So we came to our name Portal Websites!
In the meantime, Muse has developed its own management module, which makes it no longer necessary to use Wordpress as a CMS for Muse. Although Webdesign Holland in some cases still prefer to use Wordpress as CMS for his Portal websites. Yes indeed, the power and unlimited technical capabilities of Wordpress are unprecedented! In addition, the standard CMS of Muse is limited to adapting simple text and image changes.
Despite the fact that there is now also an extensive variant of these CMS in Muse, this solution requires much from the developer and the user. It takes a lot of time to implement such a CMS in a Muse website, which means that the cost of applying such a CMS is significantly higher than from a standard website.
An additional disadvantage of this CMS is that it limits the design capabilities and that is exactly why we use Muse. Our Portal websites make every kind of design possible at very competitive prices, look good and score well in Google search engines!

The oldest backup will be overwritten with the latest. In case of calamities, the required backup will be restored for free.

We recommend that we take care of the necessary updates of Wordpress, themes and plug-ins. Our workaround is that we perform the updates at our staging servers before we update the published version. For that reason we make a complete copy of the existing website on one of our staging servers. In this way we can test the updates severely whithout the risk of damaging the published live version (of course we make sure that this copy will not be marked as a duplicate website with duplicate content in the Google search engines). When everything is fine, we transfer the updates to the published live version.
So security, good back-ups and prudance are without doubt a must for a professional Wordpress! Something in which we are specialists. Although WordPress websites are in design highly dependent on existing themes, is it by use of good premium themes still possible to create beautiful and exclusively designed websites. In addition, there are very good plug-ins on the market to set up a proper and good webstore. For example, good looking and well formed invoices are our standard. These Invoices will be sent automatically to the customers after successfully paid purchases and are easy to control in the webshop's database. The VAT low and high are well recorded and shown separately, which is necessary for your tax balance.
We build our webstores in WP with the Woocommerce plugin and in order to avoid compatibility issues with updates, we only work with paid premium themes from Woothemes. As the name suggest, this is the party that developed the Woocommerce plugin. So when an update of Wordpress is released together with an update of Woocommerce, Woothemes makes sure that the necessarily modifications for its themes are done well.
This saves a lot of time and avoids unnecessary frustrations.
